Actor Paolo Contis addressed the criticisms he received from the netizens, clarifying that he doesn’t have any ambition to replace Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon who recently left Eat Bulaga after their conflict with Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.).

In an interview with 24 Oras, Paolo said that they were ‘honored’ to be chosen to be part of Eat Bulaga, but admitted that they were pressured because of the shoes they needed to fill in.

According to him, he was only called by TAPE to host the show and he was not the one who volunteered to replace the original hosts of Eat Bulaga.

“Siyempre lilinawin lang naman natin, walang planong palitan, wala kaming chance palitan si Tito, Vic and Joey. Wala kaming chance dun. We were just called to work. To continue the show because gusto ng TAPE office na magkapagbigay ng papremyo, saya everyday.” Paolo explained.

He said that he didn’t refuse the offer made by TAPE Inc. because he really wanted to help people.

“I hope you give us a chance. Kasi at the end of the day, pinatawag kami para tumulong sa tao, para makapagpasaya ng tao. How you can say no to that?” he said.

It can be recalled that among the new hosts of Eat Bulaga, Paolo was the one who received most of the criticisms from the netizens because of the controversies he was facing, including his refusal to send child support to his children.

Netizen discusses Joey de Leon’s alleged hidden message during their resignation to TAPE Inc.

Former Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon went viral on social media after some netizens discovered an alleged hidden message made by the veteran comedian during their announcement of departure to Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

On May 31, 2023, Joey, together with Tito Sotto and Vic Sotto announced their resignation from TAPE after several issues.

“July 30, 1979 po, nang simulan namin ang Eat Bulaga.. 44 years na po ito ngayong taon. Kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa mga naging tahanan namin – ang RPN9 for 9 years, ABS-CBN for 6 years at ang GMA for 28 years.” Joey said.

After Vic finished his speech, Joey can be seen moving his middle finger in his right hand before leaving the stage and some netizens interpreted it as a secret message made by the comedian against the Jalosjos family who owns TAPE Inc.

However, some Eat Bulaga fans who watched the same video said that Joey possibly only moved his middle finger to hold his wallet with his right hand.

As of writing, Joey who’s dubbed as ‘Henyo Master’ has yet to give any response to the netizens asking him if he really made a secret message or not.

It can be recalled that Joey was reportedly behind the name ‘Eat Bulaga’ and their slogan “Hangga’t May Bata, May Eat Bulaga!”.

Lolit Solis defends Paolo Contis from critics after hosting new Eat Bulaga: “Trabaho lang, walang personalan”

Veteran columnist and manager Lolit Solis defended Paolo Contis from the criticisms he received from the netizens after becoming one of the hosts of the new version of Eat Bulaga.

In her social media post, Solis said that people should not criticize Contis just because he was chosen to host Eat Bulaga, saying that even the actor was surprised by the decision of his management and by Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

Solis even said that Contis was also a fan of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.

“Trabaho lang, walang personalan. Dahil kahit kelan hindi papasok sa isip ni Paolo na magiging katapat siya sa programa ng Tito, Vic at Joey. Under siya ng management ng GMA Artists Center at kung anong trabaho ang ibigay sa kanya, tinatanggap niya.” Solis said.

“A good soldier following his superior. Talagang hindi mo maiiwasan mga ganitong pangyayari. Kahit nga si Paolo hindi akalaing mangyayari ito pero iyon ang gusto ng management niya, at palagay ko naman hindi magiging dahilan para magkaruon ng bad blood sa mga involved.

“Sana nga both parties maging matagumpay, dahil liit lang mundo ng showbiz. Hindi na dapat meron pang maliliit na kaguluhan. Dapat lahat maayos. More work, the better. More shows mas magaling.” she also said.

Solis also posted a photo of her when Contis visited her at the hospital

It can be recalled that many netizens questioned the decision of TAPE to get Contis as one of their hosts despite the controversy being faced by the actor.

May delikadesa! Michael V. refuses to become part of the rebranded Eat Bulaga

Comedian Michael V. reportedly refused the offer from TAPE Inc. to become part of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga.

According to a report, TAPE which is currently being led by Romeo Jalosjos Jr. reportedly chose Michael to be part of the new hosts of the longest-running noontime show after the original host of the show decided to resign on May 31, 2023.

However, Michael despite being a Dabarkads for almost 13 years refused the offer because of ‘delicadeza’.

The report indicated that Michael has close ties with the original hosts led by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon and he expressed support for the decision of the legendary trio to leave the production company and GMA Network.

He also considered TVJ as his mentor.

The comedian became a host of Eat Bulaga in 2003 and left the show in 2016 to pursue his major projects including Pepito Manaloto.

Sen. JV Ejercito comments about new Eat Bulaga: “Parang kailangan nila lagyan ng nameplates ang ibang talents.”

Senator JV Ejercito watched the first episode of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga and made a comment about its new hosts replacing the original ‘Dabarkads’.

Ejercito said that he’s not familiar with the new hosts and even advised other talents to wear nameplates so they would be recognized by the fans.

“Parang kailangan nila lagyan ng name plates ang ibang talents.  Mahirap ata tapatan TVJ, Alan K, Pao, Jose & Wally, etc… Eat Bulaga is really TVJ.” Ejercito said.

Some followers of Ejercito agreed with what the senator said.

However, Ejercito tried to calm his followers, saying that they should stop criticizing the new host of the said.

“But we shouldn’t bash the talents of the new EB. Hanapbuhay nila as talents.” he stated.

The first episode of the rebranded episode of Eat Bulaga went viral on Monday, but not mostly for a good reason.

#EatBulaga has been trending for several hours now on Twitter and most of the comments were negative as they didn’t like the new environment of the longest-running noontime show after its original hosts like Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon left.

Some netizens even posted a video to show their disappointment over the new hosts of Eat Bulaga, Paolo Contis, Kim Atienza, Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, and Marvin Legaspi.

A netizen even switched networks in the middle of the show because of being dissatisfied with the new Eat Bulaga.

“Ilipat mo, ang pangit nito,” the netizen said.

Most netizens expressed support for the original hosts, saying that TAPE Inc. cannot replace TVJ.

“You can use the logo, you can use the opening song, you can even use the terms and words TVJ uses, but these new wannabes will never personify the term Dabarkads. Not in the slightest. And we all know that certainly, this is fake,” netizen Gerald said.

However, some Twitter users expressed satisfaction over the changes that happened to Eat Bulaga.

“Parang mas okay tong bagong eat bulaga na mamimigay araw araw ng iphone 14, mas may mapapala ang taumbayan kaysa mapupunta lang ang budget sa mga matatandang hosts na ang mahal mahal ng TF tas nakaupo lang naman,” netizen Miss Scor remarked.

Meanwhile, fans are waiting for the new noontime show of the TVJ in TV5.

“Cheap. Bakit naman nilagyan pa ng Kapuso sa dulo.” a netizen said.

“I’m a kapuso ha but will definitely NOT watch this. Kung Saan ang eat bulaga dun ako.” another fan commented.

“Need talaga mag show kasi 2024 pa mag end ang contract nang TAPE. Walang magawa ang GMA kasi blocktimer sila. Goodluck sa mga Jalosjos. Sana meron pumasok na advertisement. Yung sinasabi nila na lugi. Ngayon na nila maramdaman yan.”

Cristy Fermin urges netizen not to criticize the new hosts of Eat Bulaga: “Trabaho po ‘yan, walang personalan”

Veteran columnist Cristy Fermin urged the netizens to avoid criticizing the possible new hosts of the rebranded version of Eat Bulaga.

In an episode of her online program, Fermin said that celebrities who would be tasked to replace the legendary trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon didn’t deserve to be quickly criticized.

“Kung sakali po na may mga artista na papayag na mag-host ng Eat Bulaga ngayong wala na ang Tito, Vic and Joey at Dabarkads, huwag po natin silang i-bash, trabaho po ito. Hindi po ilang tao lang ang may karapatang mabuhay at mamuhay nang maayos,” said Fermin.

“Hayaan po natin. Alok po ‘yan. Trabaho po ‘yan, walang personalan po rito trabaho lang talaga,” she added.

It can be recalled that entertainment columnist Jun Lalim revealed the possible names of celebrities that would become the new host of Eat Bulaga which was fully controlled by Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc.

They’re Paolo Contis, Betong, Buboy Villar, Kuya Kim Atienza, and Alexa Miro.
